Production of mouse mats

Have you ever thought about mouse mat production – no of course not – all you have to do is push a button on one end of a machine and out of the other end pop hundreds if not thousands of printed and shaped mouse mats. Well, it’s not quite like that, production of mousemats is very labour intensive and takes place in a number of different stages. Production of standard hard top mouse mats begins with checking the customer’s artwork and making sure that the images will print well. Printing machines can then be programmed to reverse print onto mark resistant PVC. The printed PVC then goes from the print room to the factory floor to be die cut to shape and then it is hand laminated onto a pre cut foam base. And that of course is a very much simplified description of the whole process which really begins with selling the product to a customer. Other styles of mouse mat, such as the armadillo mousemats and aqua mouse mats, will require printing and welding processes. Visiting the mouse mat factory is a real eye opener and it really helps to know what is going on when you have to explain to a customer why lead times for mouse mats are 2/3 weeks from receipt of an order.
